Baby Love.

I spent a late afternoon hour with the sweetest little couple. Young and in love and with a first baby on the way, they come from large families on opposite sides of the country,  yet God managed to bring these two together in marriage. Due in 2 short weeks, we had to take photos yesterday despite the rain and gloom. They live in the country amidst lovely woods and a quaint pond, but forest and stunning afternoon light were not meant to be. I feared I would have little to show them with only a window and doorway as our light source, but I think somehow McKenna's glow of new motherhood brought us through.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139

Simple thanks.

Simple thanks.

I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.

-G.K. Chesterton

I spent the morning with a sweet mom of three (soon to be 4), a mom whose goal it is to give thanks and teach her children the same. Eating healthfully is a large part of their life, teaching the littles about food and how to cook, giving thanks and growing a garden. The goal of this family is to lead a Christ-centered life, focused and grateful for His gifts.

Oh and be grateful for butter:)

Small Space. Big Love.

Small Space. Big Love.

In an age of McMansions it's a pleasure to spend time with someone who makes a small space seem spacious.  A person who gracefully spent 2 years living in a little over 500 square feet with 2 small children while her husband attends seminary. A young Mom who's wise and wonderful with her children, who's an artist with more than one talent. Look see.

And if you are patient she says,

you will see the stamen

                         curl toward heaven, the bloom

will lift its frail brown skirts, girlishly,

and let them fall, at last,

to the wanting ground.    --Julianna Baggot
