I'm so excited to capture this family's birth story. One hot Sunday I was able to spend awhile getting to know them and their A-dorable toddler. They played, took a walk, bath, read, had snuggle time and of course watched a little Cars, the favorite movie of every toddler boy! This will be the last time he's an only child and will not remember a time when his brother wasn't around. Sometimes a maternity session is about real life, about capturing those little everyday moments.
Back in March I gave away a session as a raffle prize at Joyful Birth and Breastfeeding Expo. This sweet couple won a Babymoon session and so a week after sweet Brighton arrived I headed over to document those first hazy babymoon days.
I was grateful to be allowed to document a wonderful family-centered c-section. This was not in the mama's birth plan and she labored long, over 36 hours, and with the help of her doula, care providers, and of course an amazingly attentive husband, it was a beautiful birth. Delayed cord clamping, skin to skin immediately following birth, nursing in the first hour and Daddy skin to skin were all included. Everyone was supportive, from Dr. Twedt at Piedmont Obgyn, to the GHS midwives, to the wonderful anesthesiologist. Greenville Memorial is making true strides to support women who deliver via c-section.
